True Colors Analysis
True colors is a song originally written by Cyndi Lauper and has been sung by many different artists. This is an analysis of a remix of the song ‘True Colors’ sung by the ‘Glee’ cast. The song ‘True Colors’ is about not being afraid to show your true colors, in other words, to b yourself. It talks about how life can be tough and hard to bear but instead of changing yourself to try to fit into society, you should just be yourself, unique. The song does not really go into depth and complicated to understand. It’s simple and straightforward, show everyone your true colors and don’t be afraid. I believe that this is the big message the composer is trying to get across. The feeling associated in this song is being courageous and not afraid. These emotions are brought out by the singer, who sang the song using a powerful voice. In the beginning the tone of the song is sad and the feeling of empathy is also there. The first verse talks about someone who may have lost his or her self-confidence. Towards the end, the tone changes to a more positive and happy feeling. It is as if the person has gained by their confidence. This was brought out in the singers’ voice. A language technique used throughout the song is repetition. Repetition of the words ‘True Colors’ is used to emphasis it’s importance and significance in the song. ‘True Colors’ is a self-motivational song aimed to those who are afraid or unable to be themselves. It’s a song to do with a big social issue today, especially those in the younger generations who change to fit into society instead of society changing to accept them. Although the song is very repetitive the message is important in society today. |
True Colours- Lyrics
You with the sad eyes Don't be discouraged Oh I realize It's hard to take courage In a world full of people You can lose sight of it all And the darkness inside you Can make you feel so small But I see your true colors Shining through I see your true colors And that's why I love you So don't be afraid to let them show Your true colors True colors are beautiful Like a rainbow Show me a smile then Don't be unhappy, can't remember When I last saw you laughing If this world makes you crazy And you've taken all you can bear You call me up Because you know I'll be there And I'll see your true colors Shining through I see your true colors I see your true colors So don't be afraid to let them show Your true colors True colors are beautiful Like a rainbow Cant remember when I last saw you laughing If this world makes you crazy And you've taken all you can bear You call me up Because you know I'll be there And I'll see your true colors Shining through I see your true colors I see your true colors And that's why I love you So don't be afraid to let them show Your true colors True colors See your true colors Shining through YEAH! I can see your true colors And that's why I love you So don't be afraid To let them show Your true colors True colors True colors Are Beautiful like the Rainbow |
